Our EV Interim Service is designed for regular six-monthly or manufacturer-recommended maintenance intervals, providing a more comprehensive inspection than a basic EV health check.
Although electric vehicles have fewer traditional engine components, they still require routine maintenance. Braking systems, tyres, suspension, HVAC systems, cabin filtration, the 12V electrical system and high-voltage components all require appropriate inspection to maintain safety, reliability and efficiency.
At Doyen Auto Services in Dumbarton, our EV Interim Service includes the key checks from our EV Health Check, together with additional preventative maintenance designed specifically around the requirements of electric and hybrid vehicles.
The service can include:
* High-voltage system visual inspection * HV cables and accessible connectors inspection * Full electronic diagnostic scan * Battery Management System fault-code assessment * Charging-system diagnostic checks * Brake system inspection * Brake disc and pad condition assessment * Caliper and brake-slide inspection * Tyre condition and pressure checks * Suspension and steering inspection * Lighting and visibility checks * Windscreen washer and wiper checks * 12V auxiliary battery testing * Cabin/pollen filter inspection and replacement * Relevant fluid-level checks * Thermal-management system inspection where applicable
The cabin or pollen filter is an important maintenance item that is often overlooked on electric vehicles. A restricted or contaminated filter can reduce airflow, affect HVAC performance and negatively impact cabin air quality. Where replacement is required, we can fit a suitable quality filter as part of the service.
We also pay particular attention to the conventional braking system. Regenerative braking reduces the amount of work performed by the friction brakes, but this does not eliminate the need for brake maintenance. Reduced brake usage can contribute to surface corrosion and, on some vehicles, caliper or slider mechanisms may become restricted if they are not operating regularly.
Where appropriate, we inspect brake components and ensure moving parts are operating correctly. Any lubrication is carried out only where suitable for the specific brake design and manufacturer requirements.
The 12V auxiliary battery is another critical part of an EV’s electrical system. Despite the presence of a much larger high-voltage traction battery, the 12V system supplies numerous vehicle control modules and electrical systems and plays an important role during vehicle start-up and system initialisation.
We therefore test the condition of the 12V battery rather than relying solely on its ability to start the vehicle. Where appropriate, we can assess battery voltage, charging behaviour and available diagnostic information to identify a weakening auxiliary battery before it causes an unexpected vehicle fault.

Our diagnostic scan also allows us to check supported electronic control modules for stored or current fault codes. This can identify issues that may not yet have produced an obvious dashboard warning.
The EV Interim Service is ideal for owners who want regular preventative maintenance between major services, particularly vehicles covering higher mileage or operating frequently in urban and stop-start conditions.
As with all servicing, the exact inspection and maintenance items depend on the vehicle manufacturer, model, age, mileage and service schedule. We tailor the service accordingly rather than applying the same checklist to every EV.
