Understanding the Airbag ECU (SRS Control Module)
The Airbag ECU, also known as the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) Control Module, Airbag Control Unit (ACU) or Restraint Control Module (RCM), is one of the most important safety computers in your vehicle.

When airbags or seatbelt pretensioners deploy, the Airbag ECU records permanent Crash Data inside its memory.
This information is intentionally stored by the manufacturer to prevent the module from being reused without inspection.
Even after replacing deployed airbags, pretensioners and impact sensors, the vehicle may continue displaying the Airbag Warning Light because the crash data remains stored in the module.
